An Assessment of the Foundations Course in Art Education
Abstract
The “basic art (education)” course, which has been a constant of our fine arts education programmes in higher education addressed by its historical development and context and reviewed in its relation to art education today. It has been discussed whether the course, that is accredited to Johannes Itten, one of the founding members of the Bauhaus is still relevant to our current fine arts education and questioned what possibly does it provide.
