Abstract

Resimli kitaplar, görsel okuryazarlık aracılığıyla, okuyucuların kendi yaşamları ve anlatılar arasında bağ kurmasını kolaylaştırarak kitapların rehberlik rolünü pekiştirmektedir. Resimli kitap tarihi içerisinde bu kitapların yalnızca çocuklara ilişkin olduğuna dair var olan genel kanı, crossover resimli kitapların ve yetişkinlere yönelik resimli kitapların gelişmesiyle giderek yok olmuştur. Çalışma kapsamında yetişkinlere yönelik resimli kitapların doğasını anlayabilmek adına amaçlı örnekleme yöntemiyle belirlenen beş resimli kitap betimsel olarak analiz edilmiştir. Beraberinde resimli kitaplar eşliğinde yürütülen bibliyoterapi uygulamaları, atölye çalışmaları ve projeler incelenerek, resimli anlatıların, duygusal refahın arttırılmasına yönelik katkıları ortaya konulmuştur. Resimli kitaplar, imgeler aracılığıyla hayal gücünü tetikleyerek ve metaforik anlatımın olanaklarıyla okuyucularına yaşamlarını anlamlandırabilmeleri için rehberlik ederek, duygusal refahın arttırılması konusunda yardımcı olmaktadır.

Adult picture books and their contributions to emotional well-being

Year 2025, Issue: 13, 79 - 106, 27.02.2025
https://doi.org/10.46372/arts.1564986

Abstract

Picture books reinforce the guiding role of books by facilitating readers to establish connections between their own lives and narratives through visual literacy. The general belief that these books were only for children throughout the history of picture books has gradually disappeared with the development of crossover picture books and picture books for adults. To understand the nature of picture books for adults, five picture books determined by the purposeful sampling method were analyzed descriptively. In addition, bibliotherapy practices, workshops, and projects carried out with picture books were examined to reveal the contributions of picture narratives to increasing emotional well-being. Picture books help improve emotional well-being by triggering imagination through images and guiding readers to make sense of their lives through the possibilities of metaphorical narration.
