Interactive Information Design in Museums: Comparison of Museum of Anatolian Civilizations and Frankfurt Historical Museum

Abstract

Museums undertake the task of an out-of-school educational institution where permanent learning can be achieved. While undertaking this task, it aims to increase the quality of experience of visitors with its online platforms, with the help of devices. Online visits of museums due to the development of technology and especially the pandemic; It has gained significance for interaction before and after the visit. The elimination of various limitations of online use has made online visits as vital as physical visits. However, to use online museums effectively, websites should be organized according to understandable, interesting, useful, accessible, comprehensive, and visitor qualities. This study aims to evaluate the physical and online interactive information design applications of museums, to reveal the differences and common aspects of both museums in the current situation, and to compare the results by using museum samples from abroad and in the country. Concepts such as a museum, virtual museum, interactive information design, and definitions of other concepts with which these concepts are related are also included in the study. Physical interactive information design opportunities, websites, social media accounts of the Frankfurt History Museum and the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations were examined and the information was revealed in detail.
