Abstract

Abstract

When the contents of the design studio courses in Interior Architecture education are examined, it is seen that these courses form the basis of the department. In studio classes, students; they go through a project-based training in which they deal with many subjects under the discipline of interior architecture, such as concept design, space setup, material, building system, fine structure, furniture, texture, light and sound. In addition to the outputs obtained from these courses, the design process and stages during the semester are also of great importance. Today's understanding of design has completed the digitalization stage, and has gone beyond this and started to make its presence and pressure felt on virtual reality and fictional spaces. It has become necessary for design and project-oriented departments such as interior architecture to keep up with the requirements of the age and meet future demands, and to include virtual reality applications in the design studio courses in order to raise individuals who are pioneers and can design the future. Within the scope of this study, the tools and materials, aims and outputs of the current interior architecture design studio courses are questioned, the necessity of including virtual reality applications in interior architecture project-based design studio courses is emphasized and their contribution to education is revealed.
